Sewage pumping station odor control - NEUTRALOX® photoionization system
The NEUTRALOX® photoionization system on Walkley Road was one of the first exhaust air purification installations in North America. The system was thoroughly tested by local authorities and certified by CSA for the treatment of Class 1/Div. 2 exhaust gases. The system treats H₂S and other reduced sulfur compounds from municipal wastewater pumping stations. Odor concentrations vary depending on the time of day and season. The technology operates independently of temperature and humidity, ensuring reliable year-round operation.

NEUTRALOX® Photoionization - Wastewater treatment
The Sudbury wastewater treatment plant in northern Ontario is surrounded by marshy ground, which limits the expansion of the treatment plant. The NEUTRALOX® plant, with four treatment units connected in parallel, was installed between two existing buildings. In winter, individual units can be shut down as needed. The plant is fully functional even at start-up temperatures of -40 °C and is approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Class 1/Div. 2).

NEUTRALOX® Photoionization - Odor treatment in municipal wastewater pumping station
In a small town near Hamburg, the NEUTRALOX® system treats odors from a municipal wastewater pumping station that connects a new development area to the existing sewer network. Due to the retention times in the system, H₂S concentrations rise to up to 50 ppm and the odor load to up to 30,000 GE/m³. The compact system is ATEX Zone 2 certified and features low energy consumption and easy maintenance.

NEUTRALOX® Photoionization - Treatment of heavily polluted exhaust air from a municipal wastewater pumping station
This NEUTRALOX® photoionization system treats heavily polluted exhaust air from a municipal wastewater pumping station with H₂S concentrations of 50 to 150 ppm – supplemented by other reduced sulfur compounds. The system reliably reduces the total odor concentration to below 500 OU/m³. The system is ATEX Zone 2 certified and designed for continuous operation under high pollutant loads.

NEUTRALOX® Photoionization - Reduction rate of over 99.8% under average and peak conditions
In response to numerous odor complaints and a regulation issued by the county health department, the operators of the Missoula wastewater treatment plant sought an effective odor control solution. After successful trial operation, NEUTRALOX® photoionization was installed in 2011. Independent laboratory measurements after the second month of operation confirmed a reduction rate of over 99.8% under average and peak conditions.

NEUTRALOX® Photoionization - Reduction of odor concentration from 135,000 GE/m³ to less than 500 GE/m³.
As the first NEUTRALOX® installation on the Australian continent, the NX15000 was designed for the inlet area of a new municipal wastewater treatment plant. Local authorities conducted intensive preliminary testing of the photoionization technology: reference plants were inspected, pilot tests were carried out, and the results were published. The plant reduces the odor concentration from 135,000 GE/m³ to less than 500 GE/m³. Ongoing maintenance is carried out by local service companies.
