Facing numerous odor complaints and a Corrective Action Order form the County Health Department, operators of Missoula wwtp were eager to find an effective odor control solution. After successfully piloting NEUTRALOX Photoionisation system, the City specified Neutralox equipment for their odor control upgrade.
The NEUTRALOX Photoionisation system was installed in the fall of 2011 at the Missoula wwtp to remove elevated concentrations of hydrogen sulfide and other odors in the air emissions from the headworks of the facility.
The system was started up and compliance testing was implemented after the second month of operation. During this period, inlet concentration variations were recorded and air samples were sent to independent laboratories – its was found, the Neutralox system consistently provided reduction rates greater than 99.8% for average and peak conditions.
